Started a new build since I can't do much else :)

Still thinking about what color to dye the maple, thinking maybe a blue or island burst kinda thing.

Update! Round overs, a little carving here and there, looking snazzy!

Still undecided on color - my wife thinks natural looks great.

Definitely natural on the cherry. Dye the maple if you want, but it will look great natural too!

My three favorite instrument woods - maple, cherry, and walnut. All domestic, all sustainable, all gorgeous!

When I did the double neck I was sure what I was going to do with stains, until I actually stained a piece and decided to not stain. Save every bit of scrap, experiment until you are happy.

I don't know how cherry works for a neck but I would be tempted to match the body, if you use rose for the f/b then I would bind it in rose also. I'm not sure what grandadillo is and I'm too lazy to go look.

And you know my feelings about zpoxy for both pore filling and grain popping.

Oh, and before its too late, consider chambering it. You don't have to put the f-hole in but taking a pound or so out is certainly nice.

Cherry is one of the species that it's a "sin" to color using dye or stain. It also gets darker with time vis oxidation. That's going to be a beautiful guitar!

Sorry to all you cherry purists - I got a small dribble of the blue on the cherry, and thought... Well that doesn't look half bad! So I finished it off.

A couple of coats later, it's looking pretty nice! This is a semi-gloss, I'm debating whether to leave it or polish it like mad.
