Just a few minutes ago, for some escaped reason, I was thinking of you fine cohorts and wondered how many of us take daily showers and that straight away made me think of soaps.

I don't shower everyday day but when I do, I tend to use Irish Spring. If that's not in reach, I like lanolin soap bars, no particular brand.

Dr. Donnors is a brand I'm going to try, in lavender. Maybe not the most masculine but I strongly believe Heaven smells like lavender.

How's about you? Have a regular or standard brand?

Finn is a pig farmer, quite smelly apparently , is hot for the woman, and he's telling her that he smells better because he's using fruity soaps...

Dr Bronner’s. After experiencing proper SOAP, I hate all those gels and stuff that are essentially detergents and surfactants like SLS and SLES. Castille soap or other natural ones like Aleppo soap seem gentler and rinse off completely.

Favorite scents available at Costco Japan, ranked:
Sandalwood—so nice
Almond—wife doesn’t like this one for some reason but I do
Lavender—soothing
Orange—invigorating
Unscented—actually this might rank third

The ones I don’t care for, from least hated to most:
Tea tree—smells like gasoline to me
Rose—fake rose is the worst scent
Peppermint—smells fine, but it burns the “delicate zones”

I wanna make some liquid castille soap at home, but it requires a super caustic chemical (potassium hydroxide) that is difficult to source in Japan without relevant professional or academic qualifications. Dr B’s is not cheap here, and making it doesn’t look too difficult, if you take a few precautions. Plus you can make any scent you want.

Yes to the daily shower question. If I'm doing yard work in the heat, then possibly two.

The only soap I use is fragrance-free Dove, hypoallergenic. I was having unpleasant reactions to soaps containing essential oils. They got serious enough to see a Dermatologist. She suggested using Dove and I haven't had any problems since.

I use Imperial Leather. Real bars of soap are becoming increasingly rare, plastic bottles of liquid are taking over. They’re probably not soap, more detergent.

Thinking about soap has brought back memories of traveling into London on the train with my Dad when I was younger. A few stops outside of the terminus the air would fill with not too pleasant odor from the track-side soap factory. That smell was a sign to get ready to disembark.

Kirks is great. Dr Brohners hurts my skin and is over priced. Natural ingredients. My wife also makes soap as it’s not hard and cheap.

I'm going to 'fess up to something: I really like nice soaps. I'm not sure when that happened. Maybe it's because I had a lot of allergies when I was a child and we had to be very careful about anything that touched my skin. Mild soaps, shampoos, and laundry detergents were the rule.

Eventually those allergies calmed down. Then I discovered fancy "small batch" soaps, hand-made goat-milk soaps, etc. People who used to give me liquor as presents some years ago now give me good soaps they find at farmers markets, etc. I love it.

Amen to taking a shower every day, I take mine every evening before bedtime. The bath soap we use is Dove for sensitive skin. My wife is a redhead with a real fair complexion and if she uses anything else she'll break out in a rash. She has the most sensitive skin of anyone I've ever known. We even use all the laundry products for sensitive skin issues.

Remember "Life Buoy"?
My Mom had a silly rhyme about Life Buoy.
It went : Can I hold your palm, Olive (Palmolive)?
Not on your life, boy (Life Buoy)!

Eons ago, Dad always used Zest, Mom always liked Dove.
I actually can’t stand either of em’, they’re way too “perfume-ey” for me.
