The last time Fender introduced new CV models was 2010.

Eight Modern Player Fenders introduced NAMM 2011.

Five new Vintage Modified Squiers introduced 2012.

Are Squier CV's more popular on internet forums than with actual buyers in guitar stores?

They probably noticed everyone buying them so they won't make any new ones so people will start having to move up to at least MIM Standards or spend the big bucks ;)

It's a pretty simple line. They've covered early '50's and '60s classic Teles, Strats, and Basses very well. What's left to cover in that line without creating competition for other more expensive models?

I guess the other factor may be that people seem to be happy with the current selection and are buying them at a pretty rapid pace. I suppose they could expand the color selection and maybe add a few options but that somewhat defeats the purpose of keeping quality high and manufacturing costs down in order to maximize profits at their price point.

My guess is that the CV line has been both exceptionally successful and profitable for Fender and their thinking is until it's broke why fix it. I'm not exactly sure what they'd add but I love to see what it is if they do. I like the line and especially the basses.

Ive barely ever actually seen one at the local stores, I'd doubt they're actually still making them (I thought the new VM lines were the unofficial replacements? But just an assumption)

On a serious note, I think the best guitars have come out of Japan :)

wait until the end of this month, when Winter NAMM rolls around. that's when a lot of manufacturers start showing their new models for the year. btw, my local shop tries to keep the CV's in stock and sells a pretty good amount of them.

also, a lot of manufacturers seem to dial back production towards the end of the year, probably to make sure they don't have a surplus of stuff they don't need. it seems like it's harder to find stuff around the start of the new year because of this, but once the trade shows get going, they'll ramp production up again. they'd probably rather have stock run a bit thin rather than end up with an overabundance of stock that they may not need anymore (which would be hard to sell off or make any kind of profit on.)

again, that's just my speculation, but i know at least some businesses dial back production like that, just so they can reevaluate what's selling and what's not. Winter NAMM is only a couple weeks away, so i suspect we'll see a lot of new stuff really soon.

Since 2010 They introduced the 50's Tele in BSB.

They made Lefthanded 50's-60's Strats and LH 50's Teles.

    But thats it.

Look how long the 52 AVRI ran before they came out with the 2012 and finally got it right.

The CV only looks right. In another decade, they will come out with the PVCV. It will be more 50's period correct with proper dot spacing and color.

I would like to see some 50s CVs in some of the other 50's colors.

Yes sir... more than enough.. But changing colors in the spray booth would cost almost nothing. Though they may become even more popular. For their profit, I don't know if that would be good or bad.

Have you seen the weights of the recent CV 50s ? Within a few ounces of 10 pounds ? Shipping across the Pacific is probably getting costly for all those boat anchors.

Na....they flooded the market, were a "hit' and got a cult following. I'm betting sales have slacked and the line served it's purpose, get some non-Fender players drawn into the Fender family with a fairly nice guitar and then hope they opt for to step up to real "Fenders" with a higher profit margin.
