For me, either I agree with most or part of their comment, or, it made me laugh or smile. Also, for agreement if the person is right on in their
    assessment. You?????

if it is interesting. I like a lot of comments I disagree with... but, I think the comment is important and worth hearing. I also like stuff I agree with or stuff I think contribute to the conversation.

if I open a thread and even if some one disagrees with me I will give them a like, I appreciate opposing points of view , Hell I might learn something , go figure, providing it is not a personal , derogatory, or racial negative comment - AINT NO ONE GOT TIME FOR THAT

also if someone can inhance my knowledge base by furthering my understanding , I'm all for it

I would agree with previous comments, and add that I've liked certain comments which more artfully expressed what I also thought but was unable to articulate as well. That happens a lot.

I've also liked comments in which forum members appeared to be restrained and respectful in responding to provocation. Regardless of whom I may have agreed with.

I once liked a post in which a member apologized to another for having made a snarky comment. It was just heartening to see.

See how likes are infectious? Soon we will all even like crap. But seriously, I do not like to give likes on a whim. Gotta be something, even if an opposing view. Then, what a bout this. You get a like, and you ask, why in the heck am I getting a like on this? Did I say some thing of merit. But then, I am surprised when i don't get them. They are like a thing, they are here, and affect every tdpri dude or dudette. Oh! I wouldn't like a pointy guitar comment. I have no idea what they are talking about. I know this, if I liked pointy guitars, they would be Gibsons.

I have written posts, only to delete 10 minutes of typing,(@5 words a minute, LOL). I am tired of trying to rip a hole where there is nobody home or listening on the other side. AND, I have been tossed many times at the Gear Page. I got lots of likes on posts I made that got banned within a day.

Posts that make me laugh. Posts that make me think of aspects of a topic I didn’t think before. Posts that are clear and teach me something.

There's plenty of admirable posts in the build threads, along with links to songs which I didn't know, but can now enjoy. I suppose that I" like" a post if it improves my day.

When I feel I have nothing really to add to a convo but want to acknowledge.

When I feel like that was awesome truth to spit out with strangers.

When a comment is funny af and I want to high-five.

When I’m nodding that I get your weird-a$$ reference.

When I’m IBTL but don’t want to take the heat directly.

    Hi again.

Actually, along with generally what everyone else has said, I tend to 'like' replies to threads I've started. If I don't, it's either because I found something offensive, or I just simply missed it.

Maybe it's because I've lived in Japan for so long, I don't know, but I get a sense of obligation to those who bothered to read and comment. And when I say 'obligation,' I don't mean it in the sometime western sense of 'doing it only out of obligation and not really meaning it.' I mean, I feel it. I appreciate it, in both the 'thanks' and the 'consider it' senses, and I must acknowledge that.

I wish there was a beer button.... so, instead of just a like, you can shout them a beer.... or a beverage of their choice...;)

we'd probably need a fine selection of buttons for the discerning tastes of the forum posters...
