...are they worthy of the hype?
Oh - I guess I had it backward! No wonder my life is so crappy...I always bought the white ones!
Never heard of the myth. One Google search later ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_lighter_myth
I feel a little better now...
They're considered bad luck in general because years ago some welder had one in his pants pocket, and when he fired up the torch and crouched down, his pants bunched up and pressed on the thumb button, releasing the butane. After about 20 seconds into the welding job, he experienced what became known as The Great Fire of Los Pantalones.
It's the same for bringing bananas on a boat: it's bad juju because years ago a masted ship sailed from a port in Cenral America with a cargo of bananas. They were infested with the eggs of a species of poisonous spider, which hatched early in the voyage. Several of the crew were bitten and died before they reached New Orleans.
I don't spend much time on boats, but I will keep that in mind.
So much to remember...
I had to google it, too.
Nothing to see here.
Apparently not a pothead...
You know, when it is freely available and legal, you guys will thank me for this information!
Never touch the stuff.
Don't get me started on shrooms...
Hmph. There's no myth about bad-luck nylon bootlaces. And yet...
We could start one!
Also. They were considered Unlucky after ships encountered bananas floating in the sea after wrecks. I worked on a boat for 6 years. Just to fish! hehe
I try to buy the white ones to scare people from pocketing them
It's true. Once I burnt my finger with a white lighter. The reflex caused me to drop my bong, shattering it. The noise startled my cat who jumped up on the counter and knocked my drink into the sink while my dog lapped up the bong water and barfed all over my couch and while cleaning it up I forgot the lyrics i'd just come up with for the song that was to be my #1 hit.
You'll have that...
I remember B-I-C turntables from the mid-70s
Nope. Were they white?
