It's about this place called Oak Island. We're going to go there and dig a hole. A BIG hole. And, we're going to do it for eight years. We won't find anything, but we're sure people will watch a show about digging a hole. For eight years. Even though we know we won't find anything...

...Oh, and aliens and other conspiracy theories. All of it. But, mostly, we'll be digging a hole.

So, what do you say? Do we get the job?... ;) :D

I'm sure Netflix would pick that up in a heartbeat. Maybe even The History Channel.

After all, these silly 'Muricans will watch anything!

Hey soulgeezer...I believe they have been digging holes there for more than 200 years.

    It’s tradition!

Let's hope they don't find anything, the show might be over.

At least with Gold Rush you get to see some gold at the end of each episode.

You're kinda missing the point of the show. I don't know about the rest of you but I was fascinated with the story of Oak Island after reading about it when I was a kid. I mean, it's got everything. Pirates, buried treasure, booby traps, coded clues, people getting so close but not being able to put their hands on it and people getting killed trying. You can't deny the draw of such things. I don't watch the show anymore after kinda following it for a couple of seasons.

You missed the point.....they are digging MANY holes. See, each hole is new!!

I actually enjoy it. They do find stuff, and now Nova Scotia government is involved for the archeological interests. At first I couldn't figure out where all the money was coming from, but now they have all kinds of equipment and new technology at their disposal. They even have government officials that oversee their every move.
    Hey ....it's good for tourism.

The story has always been interesting to me. In any case, someone went to a LOT of trouble to either hide something or create a hoax that people would dig for centuries.

Dude...people love that garbage! My partner and his dad love that show! It’s a step above tabloids.
Did you see the show about metal detecting where they went to Germany and found German coins and beer caps? So exciting.

DVR only. I've seen every episode...but it only takes me about 10 min to watch one. The "recap knob" on this series has definitely been cranked to 11.

Frankly, with the new "beyond" series, the whole concept is now starting to smell like it has jumped the shark. The brothers are wallowing in so much money they have been funding many other treasure hunters (beyond just oak island and that Confederate gold disaster).

They have found a lot of historical items on that island dating way back. I think the oldest item found was a long spear tip from later Roman times.

The only Treasure found so far are a few items like coins and 2 jewelry pieces.

I saw the episode where they had this guy as a guest...

    And he said things like...

    Of course, the answer was...

Seriously. And, they took him seriously! I mean, c'mon!!!!!

Serious question: You don't think some, if not all, of that stuff was seeded (i.e. put there for them to find)? I tend to think the idea that ancient Romans were hanging around the future US is pretty unlikely. In fact, I'm far more inclined to call BS than to put any stock in it at all.

    I’m watching.
It’s part of my no brain required activity
I like the surface finds. That may be all they find. But oh well.

After several years of watching, I will admit that I'm getting tired of the lack of substantial finds. I still find the history of the story to be interesting.

To be honest they’re doing a great job at filling a hole in somebodies lineup. I can’t disparage their showmanship. As soon as I hear the hyped up tunes and tones...I’m out.
