Well. I was taken into hospital on the 13th unexpectedly, so an odd one this year, with a side dose of anxiety.

    Oh that's very cute!
In 83 or 84 I was working for Hank Hinckley Jr building custom yachts and we has a 52' going with more options than we ever put in one boat. Base was maybe $250k and this one was $1.1m.
The customer hung around a lot and let his little kids and puppy run through the shop playing among the machines and dust under the stagings.
Hank was having some shortfalls on profit so the customer ordered a second 42', saying he'd figure out something to do with it after it was finished.
Included in the 52 was a pair of SS folding stock mini 14's, so I presume one was for his wife as his kids were too small.

Pirates are real but I sure hope they never had to defend themselves, as they didn't even have the sense to keep their kids safe, running loose in the shop unattended. Some folks maybe should not be armed!
    Or should learn some sense?

Fired up the big truck, jammed it into 4 wheel drive and plowed through the 10" to 12" of fresh snow from the night before to take my sweet Mrs. to her favorite coffee stand. Dropped her off at home and went to the grocery store for taco fixings. Made tacos & beans for our dinner. I must have made some points, because She complemented my guitar playing as I sat watching TV and playing my favorite Tele.

Present in the mail and a phone call as we are currently stuck 1300 miles apart.

Can't complain, single would be worse.

I made a stellar dinner—lamb chops, roasted brussels sprouts, mashed spuds, caramel pots de creme—and we watched an episode of UFO. We’ve been on a bit of a Gerry and Sylvia Anderson kick lately.

Went to church in the morning. I have to show up. Some people think it's the one day of the week I work.

Zoomed with two of my kids and my grandkids in the afternoon.

Watched Face the Nation and This Week with George (whose last name I can't spell), which I record on Sunday mornings.

Then burned through some TV I had recorded previously: a few episodes of David Holt's State of Music and some Firing Line, plus an Austin City Limits.

At some point I had a short phone call with a woman I dated for a while after my wife died. We're still friends.

One of the local fast food chains makes something they call "Curl Your Tongue" hot sauce. A few weeks ago I made some "burn a hole in your esophagus" chili, and froze half of it. Thawed it out and warmed up a bowl for dinner.

Posted on TDPRI about how great my late wife was. Pretty good day.

I ordered a pink Fender Player Stratocaster.

And, yes, THAT went about the way you might imagine.

We caught up on household chores in the morning, had a quick spaghetti lunch with glass of wine on the back patio, then a nice hike in the Superstition Mountains in the afternoon. Later that evening made chicken fajitas with all the fixings and a bit more wine before watching a movie on the sofa. It was a nice day.
