Yes, the Fender Telecaster Bass was a reissue of the original slab body Precision.

The issue gets confused because a number of people have built basses with Tele guitar bodies and called them Tele basses. Fair enough to call them that, but Fender never built a Tele bass with a Tele guitar body.

Tele Bass is a term of endearment given by builders/modders like myself that start with a basic telecaster style guitar body and create a new role for it as a bass guitar. The term as intended is not to suggest that Fender ever produced a bass just like it.

Right. That's why I said it's fair to call them that. But it still does confuse some people.
