So I had this body and pickguard laying around . . .

And an unused TV Jones Classic waiting for a home. Thinking of routing out the pickup cavity, getting a bridge that will mount the TV Jones (TV Jones makes one) and turning this into a gretschified cabronita of sorts.

    Rosewood right? Other thoughts?

Rosewood or Ebony would both look good, but don't rule out roasted Maple with a Tung oil finish!

Agree with soonerman. Also, a pure wenge neck could look sweet.
Chrome control plate with a single (gold) concentric knob to accent the 3 brass saddles on your bridge? Vintage kluson tuners ? Oh, I can see it now!

That Combo looks great. I’m really digging the pickguard, where did you find it? I’d almost just say turn it into an old school broadcaster with just one pickup so you don’t have to cut that guard.

have to mention though.. Looks like a good starting point for a Prince tribute guitar.

I like the idea but the pg is wrong (for me). I'd do a 5 hole single ply cream.

Is there a neck pickup route under there? If not I'd go Gibbons style sans pickup/pg.

I don’t remember where I got the pickguard. It wasn’t special order of anything. Someday I plan to build this Prince tribute: [IMG]

Sometimes, a “red pearl” guard looks like this (depending on the manufacturer). Eg- Look at the D’Andrea ones.

One of my favorites is the Kaish “tiger stripe”. I’ve used it on darker blondes like what the op has and it’s stunning.

I'd go with the Rosewood or Ebony board and the Tort guard.
If you go with Maple fretboard, Black pickguard.
