I am polite and never rude. Rude people can be found everywhere, toshtele. I tend to give my head an inward shake or mutter an obscenity under my breath. And then carry on. I don't let them ruin my day.

I am an AZ native and I don't mind snowbirds... they don't seem to drive as bad as they used to. There are more gigs in the winter because there are more people around.

Yeah, I shop at Wal-Mart, the Wal-Mart distribution centers buy lots of parts from the business I work at so I patronize them as well... and the lower prices make it less expensive to buy groceries and stuff.

toshtele, I gotta wonder... did you check their ID or license plate to be sure they were snowbirds cause we got a lot of crabby people living out in AJ all year long, they might be transplanted or AZ natives too.

Just remember all this and don't stare at us when summer comes and you and all the other Zonies invade the SoCal beaches.

No matter how funny looking we are.

We live where there are quit a few of very comfortable retirees.

My wife complains about goin into the big box stors/grocery stores in eve or nt and there are the more ancient ones blocking the natural shopping flow (hehe!).

They are very evident in traffic, the classic 20mph Mr. Magoo unintended consequences.

But the kicker is the sense of entitlement across the board from the very comfortable
geezers. (I know, explain that one Doug 54). 'Sweet' gero is a wide misnomer.

I am in late 50's and retired. I will never succumb to that!! hehehe.

I think I'll pass on the agriculture towns along the Gila River down to Yuma.

I was coming back from San Diego. It was overcast in the 60's the whole time we were there. We stopped in Yuma for a meal and when I got out of the car I was hit by the "hot breath" - heat and humidity. Pretty much that way all the way from Yuma to Gila Bend to Casa Grande and Coolidge.

It's no picnic here in July / August, but always somewhere worse than where you are.

Guess I missed the part about why they are staring at you. Not getting it.

I just moved from the Northern Rockies south to Oklahoma to evade the 6 month winters. Though we're buying a house and not technically snowbirds, they still sent me a handbook.

Evidently what the OP is talking about is a SB activity wherein you get 5 points for staring at whippersnappers, 10 points if they react negatively and double points if they complain about it on an Internet forum.
