When we took possession of my father-in -law's Ford F150 pickup last weekend, I found this little gem in the glovebox, an unopened package containing what I discovered upon a two minute internet search was a scam performance-enhancing 'chip' that was(is still?) sold by a 'gentleman of dubious scruples', and he took in $15,000,000 selling this junk piece over a period of years. My father-in-law, may he rest in peace, was susceptible to this sort of thing, along with a lot of other...er...'fringe' notions on a wide range of rather colorful subjects, so finding this item doesn't come as much of a surprise. It cost $69 when he bought it, and I don't know why it was never installed over the seven years he had the truck.

The car world is full of snake oil salesmen, just like the guitar world.

I have no intention of installing something like this. I just wanted to post it here as a somewhat interesting piece of junk before it goes out with the rest of the garbage tomorrow.

If you'll pay postage, I'll send it to you so that you can install it on your vehicle, how's that?

I'm not one to wander far from stock-standard on our vehicles, motorcycles or cars, and all of our vehicles run and perform very well as they are, thank you.

For a second I thought the red thing was a paper in oil capacitor and I was wondering if you were wanting to sell it so I could put it in my guitar and get rid of this tone sucking ceramic cap.

The time it takes to install it and uninstall it.

A UK motoring programme featured several of these devices and they were all useless with several actually increasing fuel consumption by interfering with the car's fuel supply.

However, the GForce won't even do that but it will lighten your wallet.

It's interesting that he was fined for this. I mean, there are literally thousands of companies manufacturing all manner of things in every category which are utterly useless and don't work at all, but they aren't breaking the law. Go and walk the aisles of a Dollar Store and you'll see. Or a Walmart for that matter. What about all the supplements which claim to heal and treat every ailment you can think of, but which end up being flushed down the pan with the other waste products? Isn't it the responsibility of the buyer to exercise caution and do their research before forking over any dough?

When I was a kid, we would pore over the J.C. Whitney catalog, looking for add ons to add fuel economy or power. Most were probably in this category of ineffective. They used weasel words like "get up to 20% performance improvement" which basically meant from 0 - 20%, most likely very little.
