This is epic to me as R&B was dominant with most radio stations in the Carolinas throughout the Sixties.
Smokey is such an awesome talent. Note the choreography.

    This is sublime.

Covered by the English Beat. Fantastic song.

My company sponsored "Smokey Robinson Night" at the Sonoma Jazz Festival back around 2006. Due to good luck and good karma coming back to me, my wife and I got to meet him in his dressing room right after he did a stunning set in front of around 6,000.

Vocally, he seemed at the top of his game. He had every right to be proud, but the way he treated my wife and me was as if WE were the celebrities. The man is an angel on earth, and my wife still talks about how beautiful he looked, and how he smelled better than anything or anyone she'd ever encountered.

So cool when an icon behaves that way. My ex LOVED Lew Dewitt of the Statler Brothers. When i had the chance to introduce her to him, he was absolutely perfect! RIP, Mr. DeWitt.

Don't forget these two. The best slow songs to dance to with your girl.
The Beatles did a great cover of You Really Got A Hold On Me. Lennon always spoke with reverence regarding Mr. Robinson. They did a lot of Motown Hits covers on their first albums.
Michael Jackson was heavily influenced as well.

The guitar intro to Tracks of My Tears is so beautiful and subtle.

Slow dancing to Ooh Baby Baby as a teenager at house parties and HS dances....

I feel privileged to have seen Smokey in AC, NJ in 1989. One of my favorite vocalists of all time, although I like Curtis Mayfield and Jerry “The Ice Man” Butler a little bit better.

    My favorite Miracles tune:
