In brief: I play sitting down a lot. My strat wants to slip forward on my leg and go belly-up. I have adjusted my strap so it's short enough, but then when I stand up, it's too short. Anyone have an idea for a grippy-ish something I could stick on the body curve? In my head I'm envisioning a transparent, non-finish harming rubbery substance I could just slap on. I'm guessing it doesn't actually exist, but who knows? Anyone conquer this problem (or even have it)?

Don't wear pants when you play ;)

Just kidding.

I'd just slap a small strip of duct tape on the bottom and call it good.

Such a product does indeed exist. It's called Stat-vinyl. It sticks to glossy surfaces and leaves no residue. Of course, the real answer is "but a Tele" but most won't go to that extent. I don't like all the contours on a Strat body and will one day make one with straight edges just like a Tele. Problem solved!

So, in addition to "Guitar Cummerbunds" to prevent 'buckle rash' we need "Guitar Lederhosen" to prevent 'Strat Slide'.

Now, Angus Young starts to make sense.

Yea, that IS a problem. Sit on a stool with rungs across the legs, thereby sitting with your right leg raised higher than your normal lap position - and be thankful you're not a Flying Vee player.

When sitting, I hold my Strat and other electrics like you would hold a classical guitar, between your knees. The guitar stays put with a moderately adjusted strap. I used to play classical and never got used to holding a guitar any other way. Plus, as I have gotten older and arthritis has set into my left hand, I find fretting to be much easier in the classical position.
