I was out on IMDB today looking for a quote from Slap Shot and accidentally discovered they are planning a remake. It's in pre-production apparently. Why dear Lord are they remaking one of the best movies ever? Money, I know, but they won't get any of mine. What a friggin' nightmare.

Like I would on most remakes of classic movies. I do have to admit though, they did a good job with True Grit, even though it didn't really need a remake either.

Americans are really becoming proud to be the lowest common denominator

I’m not a fan of the movie, but that’s not the point. It’s annoying when they remake a popular movie, but when it’s one with a fervent following, a remake is a recipe for disaster. Remake the ones that were flawed, people! Or, the ones that would benefit from new technology or a new perspective. Or better yet (and this may just be crazy talk) WRITE A NEW STORY!!! I will say that I liked the True Grit remake, but to each their own.

Remaking movies is nothing new. They’ve been doing it since The Great Train Robbery in 1904.

Thanks......I would have never known living beneath a rock for over a century.

Like I said.....Americans are proudly becoming the lowest common denominator

Visited with two of my grandsons a few weeks ago. They both played hockey in their younger years. I made a remark about the Hanson brothers and they had no idea (a common thing!) what I was talking about.

So I told them about it and I know they will watch it.

Maybe they’ll license the rights to more than one song for the soundtrack this time around.

I watched the remake of The Bad News Bears the other day. If the first one had never been made it might have been ok. But, nope. Didn’t even come close.

Seems to me that a Slapshot remake was in the works, on and off, for years.

I can't see it working. The original was made in another time. The sport and people's attitudes have changed.
