Someone is trying to pawn this off as a genuine MiJ Fender, but I think this is highly sketchy. Not even talking about the changed out tuners, or the custom shop neck plate... but they wouldn’t stamp on Made in Japan or would they? This thing screams fake to me, anything stand out to you?

I'm no expert. The neck plate is definitely weird. I can't quite place why, but the headstock looks funny to me. I could be wrong.

I would stay far away from that. Somebody is trying way too hard to convince you it was made in Japan.

An M.I.J stamp in the neck pocket? Was that really a thing?

Serial is weird. Neck pocket screams fake, its definitely worth whatever the cost of those Grovers are plus a squire body.

Not a Japanese Fender. I've been looking at 80s and 90s Japanese fender stuff alot, nothing about this looks right.

It's a cheap Squier or copy. You can see where the trap tuners were taken off. The truss rod adjuster hole has been coloured, it doesn't have the plastic insert that an MIJ standard would, It's not a special edition or custom shop.

The neck pocket stamps are a give away of a faker trying way too hard.

Back of the headstock almost looks like the tuner holes were plugged and redrilled, and the truss rod hole was colored with a sharpie to look like an MIJ/MIK/MIM insert.

I wouldn’t even pay for this with Monopoly money.

....compare it to a "real" fender neck.
