I decided to showcase my love for the UK by painting my self made Nighthawk.
    DSC01927.JPG
I did it freehand so it isn't the neatest job.
    DSC01929.JPG
But hey, it does what I intended it to do.

Just one point and not many people know this (to quote a well known English actor): "The broader (wider) diagonal white stripe should be at the top on the side of the flag nearest the flagpole". Yours is ok if you are a lefty.:lol::lol::lol:

Well. I decided to do the union flag more justice and completely re-do the thing.

Again though, it's not a neat job and pretty much a work in progress.

Be careful of the terminology. The Union Flag or Union Jack, as it is incorrectly called, is the flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Great Britain is made up of the three countries of England Scotland and Wales. The English flag is the Cross of St George, the Scottish Flag is the White Saltire, there is no official Northern Ireland flag other than the Union Flag but Ireland is represented on the Union Flag by the Red Saltire. The Welsh flag is the Red Dragon but Wales is not represented on the Union Flag. Technically there is no British flag. Pedantism rules OK.:)

I can appreciate that and I learned that Northern Ireland doesn't have an official flag.
Most people don't know the differences between Britain, England, and the United Kingdom. Being a political cartoonist and a history buff (which you should be if you're a political cartoonist), I'm always into this pedantic stuff. You can never stop learning. Going down internet wormholes is one way procrastination can actually be useful.

I was in a bar not long ago talking to an English guy who's lived in the states for a few decades, and he was trying to tell me that the UK included the Commonwealth nations, like Australia and Canada. Since he was from England and I'm not, I knew I couldn't convince him otherwise. But, I learned there are ignorant people from there too. Then again, we were in a bar.

Hey, can't wait to see the guitar when it's done and has strings.

I'm from England and I would never use the union flag as a decal on anything I own.

The cross of St George isn't a very interesting looking flag and is often associated with the far right, racism or at least football hooligans. So, the Union Flag ( I think it's the Union Jack only when on a ship? It's commonly called the Union Jack so I'm fine with that) is a better bet.

If my art skills were up to it I'd have gone Mexican, probably my favourite looking flag.

As soon as I saw the op I was going to write ' start a stopwatch until someone tells you it is upside down', which in 90% of what anyone says about the flag

    Good old St Andrew

I don’t watch Doctor Who regularly but do watch it and enjoy it when I find it. The previous actor that played Doctor Who was on the Today show and they asked a question about things not known about him. He said he was on two British Stamps including one as Doctor Who. I thought that was interesting and bought the set.
