I really don't think so. The earliest amps Evans was involved with were Sho-Bud amps, and I think that was probably mid-sixties. The amp in the photo looks a lot like a modern Evans amp, even including the tilt back-thing those amps have.
Also, even if Evans amps existed already in '64, what are the chances of one being in the UK? It would also suck pretty bad as a blues amp - Evans amps are designed for clean pedal steel amplification.

Sorry to add to the mystery. Which to me is now "why on earth would anybody photoshop an Evans amp into that picture?!?"

Not to be a windbag, but the phrase is "for all intents and purposes." That's all.

Lol, I know. Put it in context with the previous posts and I'm teasing the English professor. I think I did another one. "Irregardless", I think it was. :D

I don't see any way that the Tharpe amplifier does NOT look like this Evans. It's a match.

One might wonder why that amplifier was chosen by the person who altered the photo...

Wow. That's the closest logo design to match the picture, to me. But... the dimensions don't match unless it is a different model. The script in the original pic looks thicker and the first know doesn't match the position of the amp in your pic. Plus the original pic amp looks wider and the Evans amp looks slightly taller than wide.

In the end, I wouldn't bet money either way.

The dimensions do seem off slightly but otherwise it's a dead ringer for an Evans SE 200. It doesn't matter if they didn't exist in 1964 as the photo could have been doctored at any point after that.

The brick and mortar work is much sharper in the corresponding Vox photo.

True. And it could do with pointing, if you ask me.

What's always impressed me about this video is how clear the sound is, and I don't remember seeing a mic anywhere.

Yep. I'd guess that the Vox photo is the authentic one.

It looks to me as if the VOX was the amp originally in the shot, and the "Supro" was 'shopped in for some reason. There are repeating patterns to the right of her left foot, where some cloning wasn't done well. The weeds there also disappear into blurriness in an unnatural way. I'm dying to know why!
