Here's my Sire X10. Neck through, 24 stainless frets, compound radius, Floyd Rose, rolled Ebony fingerboard, 5-way switching. The only thing I've done to it was to add a Tremol-no and set it up for dive only.

I've yet to make a purchase but, at their price point, they're darn hard to beat. Congratulations.

Glad for you Lock. It's always fun when one gets delivered, and you like it right out of the box.
Thanks, man. I have to admit I've never taken a guitar out of the shipping box that I hated. A couple have vaguely disappointed me.
But this one exceeded my expectations ... and they were pretty high, to be honest.

It's good to hear such great feedback about these guitars. It's not surprising as there seems to be so many excellent guitars around for reasonable money.

I think we all know we pay a premium for a big brand guitar.

It's great to have choices.

I bought an S7 a few months ago. I have a lot of guitars. Its the one that gets picked up first, even after the initial honeymoon phase. The neck is sublime, and just begs to be played, so as it. A lot.

I totally get that. My Sire is the same way and I suspect it will get picked up a whole lot even though I've got plenty of other guitars. It simply feels and plays and sounds great. ❤️

I got a used Sire S7 FM last year. It's very nice with the exception of the volume/tone controls. I think it is something about how they tried to balance the HSS pickups. When you take the volume below 9.5 all of a sudden the tone gets way darker, even with tone control wide open. It's 1V/1T which was part of the attraction for me.

This behavior is acknowledged in at least some YT reviews I saw. I don't play live so it's not a big deal I suppose but I'd drop half a star at least as it's so bizarre. If I could fix it in one try I'd do it but I'm not confident in the approach.
change the tone control to an audio taper control

The guitar shop in my steet has the whole line-up , I was pretty impressed by their archtop Jazz full hollow body H-7F , and their bass have some really good looking ebony fretboards . I was not specially impressed by the semi-hollow H-7 , the neck too thin for me .

the whole line up is either torrefied maple or Ebony fretboards. I'm probably going to buy the fretless bass with ebony board , but the torrefed maple fretboard fretless bass was good too , and has passive electronics .
They even have a short scale fretless Jazz bass , which is pretty unique and has zero concurrents .

Thinline tele with P-90 , some Jazzmasters , and some Jazzmaster with strat trem that are pretty OK .
They also do all their models for leftys which is pretty rare and should be noted

I was less impressed by their Les Paul types L-3 and L-7 , too modern , I prefere the Epiphones .
they also have some Danelectro Type L-5 that are pretty cool .

They have a whole new line up : 3rd generation incoming in September ( currently on the boats ) , that you can already pre-order since april-may , with upgraded electronics , stainless steel frets . .. but the prices are good bit higher 200- 300 $ jump depending on the models .
If they really have good electronics these could be really good , too bad the headstock shape is so awful ( not for every model ) !

So there will probably be some good deals to be made when they arrive and they blow out the 2nd generation models .

I can absolutely believe it.
I wondered if their reputation was just hype.
I can state with all certainty is is not. 👍
The other player in my group fell in love with my LP Special (DC 2xp90) so he picked up a Sire LP type with dual P90s. The sound, build quality, finish and playability are stunningly good. If I HAD to pick something to complain about it would be the thick, slick, shiny poly, but all in all, what a beautiful guitar.

I've got that LP Special, too. What a great guitar!

This thread got my GAS going.
I ordered an S7 FM today from Sweetwater. I prefer a humbucker in the bridge.
My rep said Sire is making minor changes to the S7.I think it's just new colors.
They had the S7 in blue for $559.
I had to do it. It should be here Monday.

Let me know how you get on with the tone changing abruptly with the volume control once it dips below 9.5. i.e. do you get that same thing going on?
