sid vicious was the banshees first drummer

I'm looking for inverted commas around the use of drummer there based on Sid's other musical inventions. Siouxsie was a follower of the Pistols and appears in several of their photos so I guess having Sid in the band wasn't a big leap. He was also good friends with Viv Albertine* of The Slits but I don't think they asked him to join.

* Subject of the song Train in Vain by The Clash as one of her other claims to fame.

Have you re-checked the lyrics Arabian Nights? Pretty edgy by today’s standards. Up there with the lyrics to Elvis Costello’s song Oliver’s Army.

The entire Siouxsie catalog in general (including the Creatures) holds up very well. Love this track from Peepshow --

I tend to think that the interesting thing about them is the drummer Budgie, his work with The Slits pretty much my favourite drumming on record and I remember him being lauded by Stewart Copeland and then there was the Banshees side project The Creatures.

+100. While stylistically very different, Budgie shares Copeland's love for playing around the edges of a beat. Budgie for sure is on my top 5 list of underrated drummers.

yeah sid was well connected with the birds...and sioux was in many sex pistols pics...she was in the bromley contingent...steve jones book talks about the bromley contingent many times in his book...lonely boy

New Orleans, LA + in the
After most of the effluent of Katrina finally evaporated, there was a very long, weird period of drought in New Orleans. And the toxic muck turned to dust and within my brain cavity, Siouxsie and her "Cities in Dust" reigned for week upon week upon week as I tackled the thankless job of throwing away guitars, amps, vinyl and all that. She's part of me now in a way I never could have imagined:

My favorite Siouxsie song is Red Light (maybe partly because I love her outfit in the vid), then Israel. Love the chorus effect on that track. Never got too into the Creatures or Steve Severin & Robert Smith's side project The Glove, though I appreciated some of both projects.

You can see a young Siouxsie in the Pistols' interview with Bill Grundy.

I saw S&TB at the Royal Albert Hall many years ago (some time in the 80s). Aside from it being an excellent concert I remember than the sound system, aside from being blisteringly loud was the "clearest" sound that I have ever heard in my nearly 50 years of rock concert attendance. Every guitar note, every bass note, every vocal was easily heard and distinct. I've heard many, many concerts where the sound was mush and this gig was the exact opposite of mush.
