As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti.

1. They're both mountains. It's not a simile.
2. Cramming that lyric into a F#/A/F#/G# bar is quite a feat. That doesn't really work.

Honestly though, finding 'worst lyrics' is like shooting fish in a barrel.

For years I thought it was "...rises like an Empress above the Serengeti" Actually I kind of like that better.

uh, yes. it IS a simile. But what's being aligned is the symbolic significance of each peak.

(& yea you also CAN extensively compare apples and oranges )

For only 9 words, it is amazing how many things are wrong with it. I always pcitured Toto saying "it needs more Africa words" then the response was......
I saw an interview with singer/writer David Paich in which he stated he was reading a bunch of National Geographic magazines at the time.

If you compare a thing with a similar sort of thing it's not a simile. Saying a mountain looks like another mountain ain't simile. Sorry.

And symbolism? I don't think so
