For almost a week I was driving myself crazy trying to find my cold weather hunting gear. I have stuff in my upstairs finished attic but most of it is in a storage building I have in the back yard.

I was positive I had finally boxed the stuff up in June and put it somewhere. But I wasn't sure where. I went through every room in my house time after time and went through (I thought) every box in the storage building. I did this for almost a whole week.

I was beginning to think someone stole the stuff or I may have absentmindedly left it somewhere (old age?).

So today I went back and went through some of the boxes again taking everything out. I was done checking all of the boxes (I thought). Then I notice a plastic see-through storage box right in the middle of the building (it's one room). It has some stuff on top of it so I cleared it off and opened it.

It's the box I was looking for! Right in plain sight.

Ive been doing the same too lately, i'm hopeless at finding things in the fridge or pantry, my wife always has to find them.

Camping stuff is the worst though, im forever re-shuffling things like tetris, and never remember where anything is.
Anyway I'm told its a "male" thing....

No you're fine, chet again. You remembered what you were looking for for almost a week.

I sold a pedal a couple weeks ago on ebay, then had to make the guy wait 3 days before I could find it to ship to him.
I did find it but not before tracing my sales history back 12 months to be sure I hadn't already sold it and forgotten about it.

Earlier this year I accused my family of switching out my Wustof chef’s knife because I was sure it did not have serrated edges. This is a knife I use daily. Someone had put it in the dishwasher and the sticker (that I thought was inlaid) faded and looked cheap. I was so distraught that I had to leave the house and be by myself.

A couple of hours later my daughter sent me a picture of my knife from last Christmas - of course it has serrated edges and was the same knife. I apologized to everyone profusely.

It was so weird that I had my first conspiracy delusion. I really hope that never happens again.

Yeah, I want to put my black Kent Armstrong pickups back in mt Blackie. I have a volume and two tone controls somewhere around. Can't find them . I have a gazillion parts ( Forrest Gump) but I can't find those control knobs.
We're all getting older at the same rate.

Yeah, I figure too much forgot what I'm looking for vs where I put it will be the real mark of trouble. I'm the only sexagenarian in the house and I see my teens and wife can be as bad as I am on a lot of memory issues.

You can't lose it if you never had it to begin with.

Boxes suck. They hide the contents. I know, because I moved in May, and I still have piles of boxes. One day I'll get out to the woodshop and metalworking boxes. I'll bet my slippers are in one of those.

It's all that pink hair dye. Soaked into your brain 'cause you don't want to be a grumpy old man anymore.

    Cataracts just wanna have fu-un!

I have a friend who is a bit older than me and he's not as physically active as he once was. So when he leaves the house to run an errand and finds that he has to walk back inside to get the right set of car keys, then has to go back again for the shopping list and yet again for his reading glasses, he believes it's his body's coping mechanism that is insuring he gets enough exercise.

Chet, I did the same thing. In my case a blue sport coat.
We actually have lost it when we think we have it together.

I was having memory problems back in 2014 and went to a neurologist who gave me a verbal test where I had to repeat what he said and answer questions related to the questions. That was followed up with an MRI of my brain where the results showed the top of my brain was going flat. Doc said this was an early indication of alzheimer's but unless I lived to be 120+ years he wasn't that concerned it would impact my life. To this day I still do things like take dirty dishes to the frig or go to the wrong room in the house. I feel, at least in my case, that it's more of being preoccupied on something else, rather than the task at hand, that leads to absentmindness.

As an fyi I just had a follow up MRI a couple of weeks ago and everything looks good.

If anyone feel that they might have a memory issue then I recommend an appoint with a neurologist just as a precaution.
