EDIT: Gonna try a different speaker first. Hello, as per title.. What I pretty much do: I play overdriven MASSIVE strumming/rocking open chords. I like to have a slight mid-scoop and crank the volume so the amp sounds like it's going to explode, the wilder the better, I like small amps because I busk and when cranked they are at the right volume. I currently use a swamp sg10 amp, $79AUD, it's a really great amp for the price, it just sounds a little shrill and anemic once the volume comes up.. I'm wondering if I need a tube amp? I've heard tube amps that sound like utter garbage and I've heard solid state amps that (even with the hard clipping) sound wild in a good way, if it sounds good it is good. Anyone know of any five to ten watt solid state/tube amps that are not SHRILL and good for cranking and strumming big chords? I can use an inverter or battery operated amp, but must sound best when the volume is cranked.
