Is it really possible to play solos with your teeth or is it baloney? I'm thinking it's just volume, hammer-on, pull-off, slide, slur and bend trickery (says he, who can't even tear the place up with a plectrum...).

The thought of playing with my teeth causes me pain.

I can play behind my neck.... Haven't in a while tho....when prince played at Harrison's memorial he just put the guitar up to his face for a second it was just pure show...nothin wrong with that I liked it.

Oh, come on. I just don't buy that your question is genuine. You expect us to believe that you, especially being 66 years old, and in the UK, actually aren't aware of the basic guitar player knowledge that Jimi Hendrix was doing this over 50 years ago?

He probably copped it from someone even earlier, too...but the Hendrix thing, everyone knows by age 5. You learn about Hendrix, you learn two things, if nothing else: 1) He burned, or otherwise trashed, his guitars, and 2) He showed off by playing with his teeth.

Did he do much with his teeth, in terms of complexity? Not really. But definitely things that qualify as "playing a solo."

Those days are over, except to zoomers who will one day impress their peers this way...on a turntable or trigger pad though  And it will be a viral video sensation, not a real show. If it does become part of a real act, then it will seem contrived. With folk music, which is what rock music will become, it’s always gonna be cheap thrill.

Ha! Had a friend who thought he was Jimi and took two front teeth out doing this. There was much blood lol.

I used to do it with my high school band. Also played behind the head. I found a few random electrics that a neighbor had in a closet. One was a Strat, probably before 1965. But when the kid heard that I was thinking about burning one of his guitars, he balked. I wouldn't have really done it

All this was part of my philosophy to try out any possibly cool thing I heard. Clothes, stagecraft, mic chatter, etc. were strongly influenced by Hendrix, Clapton, but also by any other entertainer. Anything and everything was up for grabs in my world.

When I played with my teeth, it was only for an audience. I wasn't going to court danger by playing that way unless there was a crowd.

I was blessed with opposable thumbs. But I can still appreciate when someone else plays with their mouth.

There was a time and place for this, but if I see someone doing it today I will think less of them musically.

    Yes it's possible.
But unflavored Polydent work much than mint. The mint has a coating that inhibits tone & corrodes strings faster.

10,000 hours of practice to develop existing talent. I can't believe anyone has ever been that good at it.

Best post of the month, right there (although I'll admit, it almost got by me)!

You play guitar with your teeth, play with your guitar behind your head or back, you are dead to me.

I’m pretty sure T-Bone is the guy that Jimi copied.
