6 coats of nitrocellulose with very fine sanding in between. After that I applied liberal coats of sweat and beer over many months.

This is my current project - it has a swamp ash body with 6 or 7 coats of Tru Oil.

    swam pash 'n oil

Light weight swamp ash, sanded from 100 in 4 steps down to 600. High pressure air blasting to get the dust out of the pores. Hot water wash, and up into air tight Ultra-Violet light / fumigation box for first nitrate, and then ammonia neutralization gassing. Three days bright sunshine to dry and stop smelling of cat piss, then daily thin rubbed in coats of raw tung oil, with sunshine curing until the surface is fully sealed - about four.

My home brew '52 Hot Rod finished by a friend of mine that I acquired the body from. As far as I know, he finished this ash body with tung oil. I had the body swimming pooled under the pickguard for weight relief.

Oregon Pine? Is that the same as Douglas Fir? Looks like it from here. Nicely done!
