I had one too, the black body with double binding looks awesome. Then I sold it for some foolish reason, probably thought the chrome pickguard was too bling-ey. Then I go and buy the Parallel Universe triple HB with all gold hardware and Bigsby! Talk about bling! But it has a lot more switching options than the J5. They are both great guitars.

Bill Nash custom-built this guitar for me in 2004 according to specs and parts that I specified over several months of emails. In years since, Bill Nash no longer accepts custom work, and all Nash guitars are built in advance and sold through distributors around the world.

That's a Lollar Imperial PAF in the neck position, and a Dimarzio Twang King in bridge position. Originally Nash installed a Lollar tele special in the bridge, but it was way too dark for my tastes so I replaced it with the Twang King.

I like the Lollar PAF a lot, and if installing HBs in another tele or strat I'd probably choose it again. Huge frequency range, and pretty articulate, for a HB.

The original relic job on the guitar was a light “church gig”, but I've played this guitar in bands and in studios for 21 years. So it’s more like “roadhouse gig” aging
😊
at this point.

FYI the neck is one-piece riff-sawn maple, with a Strat headstock and Tele neck pocket; 7.25"-9.5" compound radius; medium V shape, around .860"-.870"; Dunlop 6105 frets.

Ooh, pretty! Looking at the pickups, is this an Artist brand tele? If so, how are you liking it? I recently picked one up and have been enjoying it quite a bit.
It is. I love it. I call it my Mock Stern, as the humbucker is a clone of the same one in Mike's signature guitar, except that it has coil splitting. It plays beautifully.
