We’ll see how long I can keep from mucking with this setup...

Here is the latest incarnation of my pedalboard. Covers alot of bases for me. Virtually limitless range of tones from the 2 Simbles. Even stacked, its a fairly low gain sound and the compressor is subtly set just so it pushes a bit and froths up either or both of the Simbles for lead tones. I just use the spring sound in the Neunaber (always on) and the Belle Epoch for some added echo now and then.

How do you find the MC-404?

Hey there...i love this wah....couple of handy bells and whistles within a typical footprint. I dont use it too often to be honest but it sounds terrific when i do. Seems well built as well....i have had it for 5 years or so and issue free thus far.

That's awesome...

I love mine... now, but I did have some issues at first.
I bought one, brought it home, it started rattling out of the box... the pot was totally loose inside... then I went to adjust the tension as it was really slack... the tensioning block was cracked... I go back to the shop and they replace it... the new one sounded terrible... I tweaked the trim pots... it just didn't sound right... I emailed MXR and they were really helpful, sent me a pic of how they set them at the factory... it was ok... I bought a V845 and modded it, sounded better than the CAE... I just recently went back to it and spent more time fine tuning the trims... it sounds really cool now... back on my pedalboard... sounded awesome at my last gig last weekend... next morning I opened it again and marked the settings... in hindsight I should've taken a pic as well...

So I was rummaging through a box of pedals that didn't make it onto my main board(s) and I came to the conclusion that I had enough lying around to build one for the workshop so I came up with this to cover the basics.

Interestingly a stack of cheap mooers stayed on the main board and the more expensive TCs ended up on this one (the shimverb will probably go as that is covered by the springs in the workshop amps)

^^^ Nice idea having cutouts for the mini pedals to drop in flush with the board. Very cool knockeduptele!

Lowers the whole profile making it easier to stomp and hides the spaghetti - also immediately gives you two layers and the challenge is getting that low enough, a bit of a three dimensional jigsaw puzzle to build especially slotting into the ally extrusions.

I want to buy a Simble too. I loved the one I tried but they're a little higher than I'd like to pay for a single OD pedal...

Simplicity... pretty cool board in my book... I'm sure you can squeeze some serious tones out of that...
Curiosity... amp/guitar?

Thanks very much. I'm getting back to basics, which is always a good move. I'm using a parts Tele with Fender '62 pickups > pedal board > Vox MV50 Clean > DIY 2x10 with Eminence Ragin' Cajuns wired at 4 ohms. Lots of punch, especially when I set the EQ as a slight boost.

This is my "larger" pedal board. Original Barber Tone Press, always on a light to moderate setting, El Cheapo Eno Tubescreamer type overdrive, which I find to be much smoother than the Ibanez mini Tubescreamer, Boss Tremolo, MXR Flanger and my cherished made in Japan Arion Stereo Analog Delay. Picked it up in '95 for $59 and nothing sounds better. Hard to believe the cheap looking plastic housing stood up to the 100's of dive bar gigs. Once in a while, I'll plug in my Japanese Girl Wah and plug it in at the head of the chain - that's the only time I'll turn the Tone Press off.

Quite the story indeed...pretty cool its back on the board. What were the stock settings.....i have the bottom off mine always and i imagine something moved while handling it at some point. Sounds great in the mix so i dont really care except for the general interest.

Both the MV's are getting such awesome reviews... seriously contemplating checking them out (as soon as my pocket can handle it that is... lol)

I won't derail this into an MV thread, but it is relevant to pedalboards to say the MV50 Clean is an outstanding pedal platform. It has a lot of clean headroom, so expect to get your grit from your board. The MV50 has the added advantage of being small enough to mount right on your board if you like that approach.

Strymon Flint into the Vox MV50 Clean is an excellent modern cousin to the classic Blackface amps.
