I'm still toying with the idea of getting an M9. The idea of having good modulation, filters and a looper in one unit is really appealing. I think the only thing holding me back is my experience of Line6's unreliability and the HUGE power adapter which won't run from a non-proprietary power supply

The bulky power supply was part of the reason I wasn't using the M9 - that, and the weight. I ended up mounting the power supply underneath my Pedaltrain and I'm going to see how it travels.

Just updated mine. Took off the homemade 80's rat, put the homemade chorus back on. The newest additions are the dyna comp and the little bitty pedal on the left. I just built an Orman clean boost pedal. Liking it a lot!

Going a little stripped-down for my next gig. Looking forward to giving the Gain Changer a workout.

Is the Zendrive just for ballast? :D

    Thus weeks stuff

Senn G2 Wireless, AT m2 inears - no amp - the pedal board exits through the Aphex and feeds a Presonus Mic channel then to a Allen and Heath GLD 80. The aviom system is pre eq, comp and fader but post gate. Sometimes I add a Morely Whah / Vol boost if I need it that week.

Before I have a good one.

EQD Dream Crusher > Polytune Mini > EHX Micro Synth > Hand-made Phase 45 with a vibrato thingy > Zevx Super Duper > Barber LTD > BBE "Dual Delay" (forgot the name) > BOSS RV-3

Thanks, I think it will. This will be my first gig with the Gain Changer but it sounds bitchen at practice. I went through a period of bringing too many pedals to every gig, on the "off chance" I'd want one of them for some song or other, but I've made a conscious effort to strip things down in the last year or so. I might ditch the tuner and bring my Cool Cat Vibe and a clip-on tuner on the day of the gig if I'm feeling reckless.

After much deliberation and reasoning, I've downsized from what's on post 4610:

Laptop sized DIY board with a DIY dual Timmy to an M9. I just have to tidy up the cabling and I'm done...for now...;)

    Tiny Orman boost DIY?

I've seen someone cram in a GGG Stratoblaster DIY in a small housing, but did you buy a PCB for your cool, mini Orman boost?

for now. haha ... i want to give POT/GC combo a fair chance with more playtime. might not be able to do that with the Zendrive in the chain. I'm not getting rid of that pedal, though :p

btw, how are you liking your GC?

So far, so good. First gig with it is this Thursday, so feel free to ask me again on Friday.

It's always hard to tell how dirt pedals are going to sound in a live setting. I used it at band practice last week and thought it sounded great. In my basement, it seems a little too rough and gritty, but I can't really crank it up at home, so I have to think that the sound at full-band practice will be a little closer to what it will sound like at a gig.

At practice, it was a really nice, smooth OD with just the right amount of compression and really good response to dynamics. I'm using it on the "LTD" setting and the "fat-flat" setting. I know people throw around the expression "amp-like" a lot, but this pedal (at 18v) seems extremely amp-like to me.

Nope. It's completely DIY. I built the circuit on perfboard.
