This is an HX Effects based rig, but it might give you some ideas about integrating external pedals with the stomp XL:
View attachment 900543 I run the FlyRig Sansamp and Plexi sections always on for my basic “edge of breakup” amp tone and my cab sim and I use the boost feature on the FlyRig for solos - it’s voiced really well.
The HX Effects is the hub of the setup. I run the FlyRig in one of the loops of the HX Effects so that I can put a compressor and a couple of flavours of overdrive in front of the FlyRig and a noise gate, EQ and delays and reverbs after the FlyRig.
The two EB jr volume pedals are set up as two expression pedals for the HX Effects so that I can control any parameters I need to with each. Usually I have one set up as a straight up volume pedal (post amp and pre delays and reverbs) and the second set up to control the wet/dry mix on both a reverb and delay simultaneously, which allows me to tailor the wetness and ambiance of my tone without having to use multiple delays and reverbs or switch snapshots or patches.
This is probably the most flexible and versatile “direct to board” rig I’ve ever had, while being extremely easy to use.
