I just went on a buying spree, purchasing several straps with a couple of nice wide leather Levy straps and a few cheaper woven nylon “throw down” straps as loaners when people forget. I got the loaners because I had my favorite old, wide suede strap go missing after letting someone use it.

None of my purchases are what I would call fancy, though I did buy a custom Taylor strap that has “Taylor” embossed on it and matches the color of the guitar.

You can’t have too many straps after all. Buying them helped ease my gas for a relatively low price as well. I don’t have any high end guitars other than the Taylor, or I might get a custom matching strap for them as well.

Maybe my MIM Strat should have a fancy matching strap?

I’m about to go exchange a too-short strap purchase for a longer one for my new guitarrón. Perhaps I will find an especially sexy replacement.

Honestly, my favorite straps so far have been black nylon 2” DiMarzio clip locks and skinny black leather Fender vintage straps with the shoulder pad. Pretty understated. But whatever I get this time around will be decided primarily by length...60” or longer.

Somebody actually suggested doing a thread on straps - tongue-in-cheek, and I’m all over it! We’re trying to generate some energy here because it seems like tdrpi is becoming a ghost town.

Yeah, it was me. But what the heck. I can post some photos of ones I've found:
From Dunlop's licensed Hendrix collection - Linda Lou likes the white one:

I have this one from Franklin Straps in a red and blue print, great for acoustics:

Gifting this one to a good friend to go with his leopard print bass:

If you play a Lester or bass, this one's for you (elastic that takes the load):

This one looks great with a black or red guitar, currently on my new red sparkle Squier Tele:

Ernie Ball makes some cool stuff that's affordable, and this one's pretty loud:

Fender finally got smart and is making this elastic "weightless" model, now available in basic black, black and white, red and grey tweed, and some obnoxious logo print variants:

That’s cool! And the guitar looks like an old Vox like Phil Volk played in Paul Revere and The Raiders.

Well thank you. The guitar is a Phantom reproduction from PGW, which is Jack Charles' venture. (Folks may recall Jack played with Quarter Flash; if you grew up in Portland in the 70's/early 80's it was inescapable. I bounced between them & Wipers. Good times!)

Ok, straps it is.

Grew up in Colorado, so maybe l lean a little in that direction. When I was small boy, went to Sunday school with a string tie, thunderbird clasp with fake turquoise eye. Don’t know what happened to that tie, but saw the thunderbird in this strap:

Don’t typically ride for the big brands, but Fender makes this one and I liked the colors:

On a visit to relatives in Taos, found this - a Jicarilla Apache wedding belt that I made into a strap:

Detail - the two triangles represent the Badger clan. I like badgers:

…and an I-don’t-know-how-old Ace hippy strap:

Got a few other boring ones.
