    $175.00 Blacktop Build

Bought this loaded Blacktop Body (minus pups) off fleabay. Already had a pair of Lindy Fralin PAF's. My son gave me the neck (which I can't figure out what it really is) it does have the "notebook paper" on the bottom of the neck (body side) which would lead me to believe it is a Fender neck. The pots must have also been changed out, because I have very linear 0-10 smooth operation in them. Also came with Graphtec saddles. Total investment so far $175.00. Next step, better tuners, these are el cheapo's given to me, and the toneshapers total Green Mod. Any info on the neck would be appreciated!

Boris, could you post a close-up pic of the partial pickguard, please?

The Telecaster family as of right now, and left to right in order of acquisition (though in reality, the first 2 came home at the same time).
    Deluxe Nashville (various mods)
    Richie Kotzen sig (various mods)
'07 Highway One Texas (various mods)
'10 Baja with atypically smaller neck (various mods, work-in-process)
'13 James Burton Blue Paisley Flame (no major mods quite yet... parts otw)

I like it when my guitars are set aside from others - everyone should design their own features I think.

I hear you. This guitar could be by anyone. I like it a lot but I haven't yet thought of any way to personalize it.

Hi Boris, that looks a lot like what I have planned for one of my pickguards. Someone here emailed me a jpg file of a pickguard modified to be like that. I will be modding it a little bit.

Looks perfect the way it is:D I don't like pickguards on Telecasters that have nice see-thru finishes. It takes away from the beauty...

    Here's Mine (2011 MIM Standard)

Just brought this one home, last week. Even though it's brand new, pretty much everything's getting changed or finessed on this one. Already had most of the parts for a Squier CV Thinline, but ended up trading it in on this (call me fickle). The list includes ...

    Babicz full contact Tele bridge
Fender N3 noiseless pickups (bridge and neck)
    CTS 4-way selector
CTS 250k no load tone pot (for 8 bucks, figured I'm already in there)
    Brass nut
    Fender Schaller locking tuners

Other than a touch-up on the fret ends, the neck is pretty awesome on it, and I really like black and maple, on a Tele. I think she's going to be a real charmer.

Not exactly the same but please consider this a sincere form of flattery Boris, because I'm pretty sure your work inspired my own.
