That makes me think of the Jet, which kinda begs the question "what makes a Les Paul type guitar?"

    Similar body style, check.
Two pickups, often humbuckers, sometimes fairly hot singles. Check.
    3x3 tuners on a tilt-back headstock, check.
    Mahogany body, maple cap, check.
12" radius, rosewood board, pearl inlays, check.
3-way pickup selector on upper bout, check.

These two are as close as I've got, but they have different similarities and departures. A Hamer Artist Studio and a G&L Korina ASAT Junior II.

I'm a bit mixed on them both. The Hamer had some undisclosed issues when I bought it and could do for some fretwork, maybe even a refret, but I've yet to decide on the expense (I'm not confident in doing a refret myself). The G&L with the P90s sounds absolutely wicked, but the hum is a bit much, and it feels a little stiff to me. (I've been considering moving it on when life gets a bit more normal, but I started playing it after taking this photo, and that snarl...).

I wasn't sure a Gretsch Pro Jet would qualify as an LP style guitar, but since I've seen a couple other Jets pop up in the last few posts, here's my gold top Pro Jet:

Yeah, the original wiring for a 3 pickup Les Paul is pretty uninspired. I wanted more options, so when the push-pull knob is disengaged it functions like a standard Les Paul: neck pickup in the neck position, neck and bridge pickup together in the middle position (which on a stock LP custom 3 pickup is unavailable) and bridge pickup alone in the bridge position. When I pull the push-pull knob up I can now play the neck and middle pickup in the neck position, the middle pickup alone in the middle position and the middle and bridge pickup in the bridge position. The middle and bridge position are very twangy/nasaly tones. There is a Jimmy Page LP Custom with even more options, I think one of them is all 3 pickups together which is not possible on mine and I think he had a coil splitting option. Anyways, I modded mine according to what I felt made the most sense and I love it. Lots of tones to play with.

This is a 2013 LP Trad Pro II. It's an absolutely hideous combination of wine red and gold hardware. It's an aesthetic I continue to have zero appetite for. She's extra flamey though and as heavy as she is ugly. I only have one of those analog bathroom scales, so she appears to be 10 pounds, but I swear she's heavier. That's all the bad. Now for the good.

The guitar plays like a dream and resonates like crazy. Its stock humbuckers are super high output and are great clean through my 65 PRRI and growl through my Mojotone 5E3. It sounds great clean or distorted through my Fromel-modded HRD as well. The pickups push/push to split coils. The guitar has mojo aplenty and music just comes out of it, which is super cool.

I bought it for as cheap as you ever see a real LP on craigslist and planned on waiting a month or so and flipping it to pocket a few bills (btw, fellas, this is a GREAT way to slip a new guitar right past a sorta cool/inattentive wife and right into the collection!). But I couldn't part with it. I have a Wildwood Spec R8 but reach for this one more because of the magic. The R8 is a work of art though. It's just gorgeous. I'll post it after work.

My 96 Korean Epi brass sparkle top. Weight isn't bad, about 8.5 lbs. Pickups are GFS Retrotrons, ok, much better than stock but nothing special. I used open hb covers with a patterned metallic fabric, I was doing cosmetic goldfoil type experiments. No PG because they look like a big ugly nose. And that strap compliments it well
I had a pro set it up as it was my first refin attempt, some dumb kid painted it black. I stripped it with out doing too much damage. I used Stew Macs mahogany spray on the back and awful Deft lacquer which is nearly dry and hard after about 10 years. The back is still a mess but I'm ok with it.

    Ha!
    I love the “nose” analogy.
I dislike pickguards on Les Pauls, too.
They hide the beautiful carve of the top, and sometimes dig into said tops.
    I take em’ off, too.
Two of my LP types never had them, and I took the one on my gold top off.

Mine's a 2014 Traditional. Weighs about ten pounds and has an enormous neck profile. It's a beast and it sounds like one. I took this pic soon after I bought it a couple of years ago (look at my happy grin in the neck pickup!), and since then I've added an amber switch tip and changed out the speed knobs for bells. Under certain light the tobacco sunburst goes to a rich dark cherry. It's a beautiful thing.

I had a a Gibson LP Studio and a Lotus LP with Dimarzio PAF's that had to be sold off and are missed. Now I have this DeArmond M72 Bluesbird with Goldtop HB's and a Duesenberg Les Trem II that is awesome. DSCF0878.JPG I also have a SX PRS singlecut clone that is really impressive for a sub $200 dollar guitar. egsiscus24am22a.jpg
