I remember reading in a computer graphics book this exercise in a chapter about colour:

Take a piece of paper that has a solid colour on it. Scan it onto your computer. Print it out from that scanned image. Now compare all three: the original, the print out and what appears on the screen. They were quite different for me

Beautiful color, but it looks more like Dakota Red to me. Fieste Red has more orange or salmon in it. And I'm speaking about Fenders original 60's colors ...

I agree, but the only guitar in this thread that looks noticeable different in color from my original 1965 Dakota Red Tele, is Brightlight's Kirn Tele. On my monitor it looks more Fiesta Red than Dakota Red.

Maybe it's because my monitor isn't "calibrated", but what about all the others? Why would they look more correct?

Yes, I'd agree that it's closer to Dakota. But Lipstick is/was just a little brighter and...well...redder!

Yeah, I have to agree with the others that Dakota Red is superior to Fiesta, hands down.

Nice guitars, there is something about the dakota red on older muiscmasters, and mustangs that I just love. Like true guitar blood, deep red.

    I don't mind at all! :)

I have neither the program nor the techniqual knowhow, so I'm very thankful.

I remember that we played "Sunny Afternoon" (Kinks) when my friends mom took this picture. My friend played the bass line in the neck position (dark circuit) while I played rhythm and sang.

Anybody know of a way to obtain a budget sub ($500) Dakota or Fiesta tele? I'd love to have one but they are usually custom shop items and fairly expensive. The cheapest soulution I can think of would be to buy an after market body and convert a Classic Vibe but the bodies are usually $300 and up finished.

Hahahah, I will have to print out these enhanced pictures ...

    Damn, you guys are good!

Would you believe it, but this is the only picture I've been able to find of my first Telecaster - and I'm not even playing it myself!

    Dakota Red 1966 Mustang

My Dakota Red 1966 Mustang. I had a difficult time capturing the color. In person, it has a slightly darker, less orange hue. But this is pretty close.

You could refin a Blonde CV Tele, that will come in under $ 500.

Hey, that was a REALLY cool old photo and I thought it should be fixed up a little bit. Here you go. I didn't really spend much time fixing all the little dust spots but I wanted to do a little color correction on it so you could enjoy it the way it used to look.

I didn't realize that someone else had already done some correction for you! Sorry, I should have read further in the thread before I did that, I guess. I just thought it was so cool that I had to fix it up some.

My custom built; with gold flames on it - seymour duncan quarter pound in the bridge; tonerider hot classic in the neck. The neck is a one-piece-maple with a carbon-fiber trussrod (made by Vox Humana, The Netherlands). It also has a 5-way switch.
