Should we really all go down to Dumas Walker's place, or do you even have any marbles?

I'm thinking if they don't want you hanging around the place, why patronize Dumas at all? I thought shootin' marbles on a pool table didn't make much sense anyway. I think he just likes showing off.

My mother was born in Dumas, TX, but I think Toto’sDad is referring to the Kentucky Headhunters’ song. I got to see them play it live at the Texas State Fair when I was a kid.

I was part of their opening act at the Texas State Fair 1987, or 1988!
I played guitar with Frances Ann Kyle.
We were on first, then Brenda Lee, then the Kentucky Headhunters.
    Perhaps you saw us, too?
Anyways, the Headhunters were really good, and really nice guys.
I opened for them again later, this time in Prince George, BC, circa 1995.

We do Dumas Walker every gig. Goes over very well. Have been for years.

I know of 2 other country bands around these parts, that have picked it up too. Gotta believe it's because we've been doing it for years and they saw us doing it and thought "Wow, what a great tune, we should pick that one up!"

I played in many bands that covered DW, in the day.
The band I currently play with, the Nathan Colt Young Band covers it too.
I haven’t played it in well over twenty years, but I still remember it.
It’s about as close to “rock” as anything we do.
The Headhunters were a great band, tight and rockin’.
I gotta try a slaw burger some day.
I don’t know where to find a bottle of Ski.
    Is it still made?
    Enquiring minds want to know!

According to their Soda Locator, the only place around here to get it is, Cracker Barrel! Cool!

    Yup!
    Intro and outro.
The outro is a little tricky, until you’ve played it a bunch.
We had to rehearse it recently.
The rhythm section had a little trouble, at first.
It’s the only tune the NCY band does that I use a (slightly) distorted tone on.
Greg Martin gets great Les Paul tones!
He has at least two Les Paul holy grails, a 59 ‘burst, and my personal favorite, a 1968 Custom.
Rhythm guitarist Richard Young used an early 60s rosewood board Tele.
The Headhunters were fun, light and not at all serious.
I enjoyed all of their early albums, and afterwards, Brother Phelps was good, too.
I sometimes cover their tune Let Go.

If I were a little younger, I would do Ms. Walker.

Stopped there on trips visiting family a few times. Not much to do in Thomkinsville.

They played in my little town once and did a great job. They played country in the correct manner, with Les Pauls and Marshalls.
