Should I install a grounded plug on my old Butler Real Tube pedal???

    It may not have one because it's double insulated.

    But a three-wire mains cable is cheap insurance. Get your hands on the schematic for it (if you can) before you crack it open. And mind the polarity!

    Perhaps true. I'll have to look.

    Also strangely, the 2-prong plug is not polarity-specific...it'll run regardless of which one is on the right or left.

    That makes it even more dangerous--especially when your face is close to a microphone.

    The 2-wire plug allows them to design a power supply with no ground reference - it gets that from the connected amp. A 3-prong plug might introduce a ground loop.
