    I'm bored.

That's it. That's pretty much the premise for me looking at amp kits.

I have built a 5E3 kit in the past (Mission) and several pedal kits. I've already got a total of 4 amps (PRRI, 5E3, 57 Twin, and 5F6A) so there aren't really any gaps in my lineup.

The one that has my attention is the Mojotone 6G16 Vibroverb. I used to own a CVR and it was a great amp. I love spring reverb and tube driven tremolo and 210 speaker setups.

    Downside? These ain't cheap.

So, do I do it? Or just forget about it and go play the gear I have?

Aw come on. That's like asking a bunch of crack-heads if they'd like you to boil up a batch. Or, whatever it's called. Sorry, don't know crack terminology.

Well it would be a nice in between choice for when the Princeton is not enough, the twin is too much, and you don’t want to lug the Bassman.

The answer to this question is always "YES!!" Sorry, but you obviously don't ask that question around here unless that's the answer you're looking for. :) We hereby give you the official TDPRI permission!

Yes, build an amp. Amp building is therapeutic. Watching the heaters coming on, then getting the first notes from your new build, knowing that each and every joint has been made properly, the component quality is top notch and you've done it to a standard, not a price, are a few good reasons to do it.
As for gaps in your line-up, I'm not seeing a Champ-a-like, a Marshall 18W TMB, Vox-ish or Orange hued heads in there. Build heads. Build a 2x10" More heads means more toys, and they take up less shelf space. One 2x10" and maybe a pair of 1x10" covers most of your speaker needs, freeing you up to build more amps. The economy depends on you buying what you want, not what you need. More toys = healthy economy. Don't be the cause of worldwide economic collapse by being sensible. Be a hero. Build another amp.

If you’ve got the time, money, skill, interest and “want to” then do it.

Edit (see my post below). I agree. Build heads. And I love the fact that Mojotone also sells them complete (which I think means fully built). You miss on the experience of building it, but I was looking at their JTM45 model and their labor cost seems fair. I think it was only a few hundred more than the kit. And probably less than similar boutique options out there.

Not sure about this now. Does anyone know if they build for you, or does "complete" just mean it includes tubes and cabinet? I could swear someone told me they do builds. Maybe they used to have that option?

Build a Vox AC15 or Marshall 18W to broaden your arsenal.

I know Champ is the obvious answer for most kit builds. However I've owned a 1973 Champ and an EC Vibro Champ and eventually sold both. Just not versatile in their applications.

I’m super interested in building one of the micro bassman amps.
