The site is basically Maxim for Irish guys. Pretty sure Bonnie is not on their playlist. And, you started this thread with "SERIOUSLY???" so you sound pretty offended for someone not offended.
"SERIOUSLY???" is not an indication of offense, rather it is an expression of incredulity.

Bonnie is as boring as can be - and that song was pretty lame. That said, y'all are taking offense about someone at "JOE" calling her unknown. Hook, line, sinker. Catching Boomers is easy.
Why, because she doesn't have 20 dancers bouncing all over the place. Ill take her soulful real music over swift, bey and all the other posers.

Chalk me up as an undecided voter. On the one hand, I love Bonnie Raitt as a singer, songwriter, and guitar player. I think that song really hits a contemporary moment as a pandemic-fixin'-to-die blues, both in its subject material and its inspiration by John Prine and his untimely demise. On the other hand, passing up current artists in favor of Bonnie (who's won a dozen times already) seems really tone deaf and shows some detachment from what's culturally salient. But hey, (almost) everybody won a trophy, and everybody had fun, right?

What I'm certain of--that that article written by a 25 year old British intern (or a 3 month old robot) knows exactly who Bonnie is, and is trolling all of us.

And I will add that while I think that Bonnie Raitt deserved the award, I actually like Lizzo, Beyonce' and Adele. They all are great performers and are certainly worthy of their popularity and recognition.

Yeah, but not the GOAT level [yet] Bonnie Rate is/has been... Again, just yet...

And for me, the lower POP path is worth a lot for GOAT status. Just one opinion...

Everyone in this world, whether they are a professional in the music industry or not, is entitled to their personal opinion of an artist's talent. My opinion is that there are thousands of unknown singers in this world whose talents exceeded those of Amy Winehouse. I never said that she wasn't talented. My personal belief is that she was over-rated. I don't like Amy Winehouse and you do. So what?

Oh, and I got paid for those 45 years of representing professional musicians. Please tell us about your history.
Of course everyone has their own tastes. My first impression of AW was meh listening to maybe Rehab or some other pop hit. But after I really listened to her music from her career, I was blown away.

Are you actually suggesting Taylor Swift or Beyoncé don’t have talent?
Take away vocal enhancers, other crutches, and stage show fluff from them.
Yes,no real talent. They're only popular because they appeal to the (old moniker) bubble-gum crowd.

You know it is possible to think that Bonnie is boring and also not give two hoots about Swift. That said, twenty dancers still can't make blues interesting.

That’s ridiculous. Do you have any idea how many hundreds of thousands of women have picked up the guitar because of mega talents like Taylor Swift? How many people in 2023 care about music because of Beyonce? Come on.

Which one @Willie Johnson ?? Can’t have both be true.
I did go out of my way to say one hand/other hand, but I'll bite.

The subject matter of the Bonnie Raitt song is relevant and timely, but rewarding a legacy artist drawing from an old bag of tricks at the detriment of newer artists creating much fresher material smacks of exclusion and an old way of doing things. Both certainly can be--and I would argue, are--true. How's that?
