I got this last year, an '06 VOS '61 Special RI...

I put a TonePros bridge on it shortly after I got it in.

Hey, it's a Gibby and it's certainly SG-shaped. I reckon with that pup swap it's pretty much an SG Junior, despite the Melody Maker headstock.

Hell it's more an SG than my "Les Paul Melody Maker" is an LP (it's my wannnabe LP Junior):

Aye, 1967 Pelham Blue although it changes colour depending on the light, definitely more green than blue these days. It had a humbucker installed when I bought it, replaced it with a tonerider rebel 90, great pickup.

Take me back to my youth! The first Gibson I ever owned back in the early '70s! One of the best sounding axes I had:cool:

Well, since you're allowing Melody Makers -- here's my "limited edition" Melody Maker SG. It's actually a killer guitar -- really comfortable neck, light as a feather, and it loves to play the reggae:

It's an '85 standard. Survived my daughter using to play in a grunge/punk band in the 90's. Put a Gibson P-94 (humbucker shaped P-90) in the neck position. No complaints.

Blazer - That is a very fine group of SG style guitars. What kind of pickups did you use and why? Story, please.

Just joined the club this morning boys! (AND GIRLS)
I don't have to worry about buckle rash on this one!
Came with some upgrades. Schaller buttons and locking tuners.
Burstbucker 2 in the neck. I have a Burstbucker 3 coming soon to replace the 490T in the bridge.
    I dig it!

That looks just like my SG special used to. Great guitar, the only thing I didn't like was that the neck was a little fatter than I'm used too. I upgraded the bridge PU on mine with a 57 Classic plus and ended up reshaping the neck some, refinished it in "Goldtop" gold and put some stick on inlays on the neck.

Sweet looking SG. I may toss some faux inlays on too...I intend this to be my main gigging guitar. No worries about dingin' it!

I've got a black standard with bareknuckle mules in it. It's my ABB/Gov't Mule/jam band guitar. Totally love all the tones I get with it.

That's the bad part of my refinish, I used to bang it around pretty good hauling it around but after I refinished it I'm a lot more careful.
I ended up getting a Squier strat and upgrading the electronics and making a new bang around guitar
