    Hi Everyone,

unfortunately the Seymour Duncan forum does not enable my account since two days, so I need to ask in a Telly forum about a Strat Pickup.

I just bought a new Seymour Duncan SSL-5 together with other Pickups via ebay.

All looks fine with the SSL-5 (original box, looks unused like declared, looks like a SSL-5 should look).
But there is one point: When I measure it, I got 14,3kOhm instead of 13,3kOhm.
(With 24° Celsius, after 15 Minutes I come down to 13,2kOhm.)
A Tonerider PU I also bought shows always what it should.

Do I have to worry about the SSL-5?
Does Seymour Duncan measure that wired, or do they have so much tolerance?

    Thanks and regards,
    Felix

I'd install it first. You might like the sound.

All pickups have a tolerance of 10-20%. The sound difference between 13 and 14k will be negligible, it's only 8%

Ah, I did not know that they have so high tolerance.
(All others I have had not more than 5%.)

    Thanks for the clarification!

Yeah I've had those pickups vary slightly like that and honestly not noticed any major difference in their tone, chances are you'll be ok there.

Yet another reason to discount DCR specs... nobody ever lists the test temperature.
