Many detectors now have built-in 'ten year' batteries...but if yours do not, stick some fresh batteries in.

It is the cheapest true life insurance you can buy.

And set the clocks back tonight or you'll be late for choich!

    Be safe out there.

Depends on where you live. We move the clocks back last weekend already.

Clocks stay the same here all the time. Now my stupid house phone will say the right time for a few months.

I'm putting new batteries in my phaser pedal as well - just to be "safe"

saw this thread when I logged on and thought.. we don't adjust the time clocks here and my smoke alarms goes off every time I cook pizza in the house... I'm good here, nothing to say...

then, a short time later my smoke alarm started giving me the low battery beep.... huh?... spooky..o_O

so i got up there and dutifully replaced the battery...:)

Thanks for the smoke detector battery reminder. I think I have a box of batteries so will swap them out.

@Peegoo the only reason I clicked on this thread was to see a ridiculous custom illustration of this topic. Don't let us down, man.

Yes, smoke detectors. I had one a couple weeks ago that would start beeping anywhere between 1:00am and 4:00am. Forget sleeping through it. so I am up on a ladder putting a new battery in. Next night same thing, another new battery. Next night, same thing so I removed it from the ceiing AC connection and the next day got out my multimeter. The new batteries checked out so I swapped the detector into a new location, same beeping, same time. Apparently the lower temperature at that time in the morning is enough to trigger it but a new battery will usually solve it. As a last resort I blew it out according to instructions. No joy. It was only two years old but into the dumper it went and fortunately I could get another of the same model so the AC connector was the same.

For me, these beeps are totally non-directional. It's extremely hard to narrow down which one it is. I did the rest of the house detector batteries at the same time.

My detectors are hard wired. Why they put one 5 feet or less from the stove puzzles me. Maybe because my bedroom door is right there ? Anyway, I finally took that one down. They really need an on/off switch for those.
