NGD for me. Yeah! Just got this FMT custom tele in great condition. Cool finish, looking almost green at times, though I think it is a charcoal kind of black. Back is more natural Mahogany colored, being that it is mahogany.
I saw some posts about these being very light weight and made from lite ash.
This one is definitely not light. Not super heavy, but what you would expect from a somewhat slim bodied mahogany body and neck. Came with the stock Fender pickups seen here. Played very little. I don't know if you can tell it here, but the neck pickup is adjusted very low, sitting down flush or possibly even less than flush with the body.
It's output is very low and lifeless. I am going to raise it. I don't think it's supposed to sit this low. I had another Korean (Samick made) guitar and, coincidentally...I think, the neck pickups was also mounted very low and it had lousy output and tone. Raised it up and it now screams and sounds great. Hoping the same will be the case here. I haven't had a chance to really play this through my tube amp, so I'm excited about that tomorrow. Other FMT owner comments ???

I'll go first. My new (to me) Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH.
Set neck and Humbuckers. :D

I'm gassing for one of these, but I wish they hadn't painted the back so dark. The wood loooks much nicer on the amber version.

I just got one of the Korea set-neck/carved top number with a gold top finish and love it so far.
Added a Fishman PowerBridge just in time to use for a Bowie tribute at a festival in Tampa this past weekend where we did the whole Ziggy Stardust album.

Cool (to me) bonus is that I bought this guitar from Danny B. Harvey of The Polecats (UK rockabilly/New Wave back from he early '80s) who had a band in the 2000s with Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats and Lemmy from Moorhead called The Head Cat. He included a signed photo of him playing this guitar onstage with Lemmy - pretty cool!image removed

Set necks: I don't have one yet but I'm thinking about getting one. What neck scale length is good?

Howdy and welcome to this cool place.
I’ve seen both 25 1/2 in scales and 24 3/4 scales, depending on model and manufacturers.
I prefer the longer scale.
The shorter scale will be somewhat easier to play, the longer scale guitars will seem a little stiffer to play.
You could research it, or bring a tape measure with you when you demo them.
Good luck!

A couple pictures from Ron Kirn. He built this incredible guitar for me a few years back. Just had a great night out with it. Everyone commented on that "tele on steroids" quote. It reminded me of what a special guitar it is and what a cool guy Ron is. I still owe him a video...
