Another vote for Ibanez. I recently picked up a bargain AS73 and it gives my LP Studio Pro a good run for the money. Plays well, fat sound, looks the biz. I love it.

Take a look at the Gretsch G2657 or G2622 (the former is a bit smaller body size, the latter a larger). Both have the same pickups as my fully hollow G2420 which are kind of between a traditional Filter'tron and PAF - but much closer to the PAF in my opinion. Both made in Indonesia - and assuming quality similar to my 2420, it will be excellent. Plays and sounds great.
