I'm amazed of how many people look on Ebay and see that their item sold for say $1000 so they list it on CL for $1000. They think someone in their city will come over with $1000 in their pocket. It doesn't happen.

They don't realize that selling on Ebay is a huge hassle and that the item that went for $1000 may have been listed for months! Plus anyone selling on Ebay has to put up with all kinds of crazy emails demanding more pics and asking that you find out the shipping cost to every country out there.

Has anyone every sold $1000 + guitars and amps on CL easily?

I've recently had some good luck selling on CL. I sold my Casino for $550 and a 2x10 Hartke Bass cab for $75. Took a bit of a hit on the Casino, basically threw in the case and broke even on the cab. No I didn't sell anything for more than $1000, but it was nice not to have to pay all those extra fees. I had a little patience and got cold hard cash in about two weeks. CL is ok by me.

Most of the stuff I've sold through CL, I've gotten what I ould have expected through eBay and vice versa. Just my experience...

I get far more "crazy emails" from a CL listing than I do from eBay, but eBay has the fees. Pros and cons to both I guess.

I try to sell guitars locally first, saves the hassle of shipping for me, and it's usually cash in the pocket, no worries.

You get great exposure on ebay. If you're selling something really unique, put it on ebay....you'll have a much better chance of finding 15 people who are searching for the item.

Ebay is easy...sometimes the hardest part is finding the right sized cardboard box.

If your are selling something fairly mainstream, try selling local on craigslist. Someone in your area will need your item.

I've had great luck with ebay and craigslist.

I've traded on CL, but always sell on Ebay. In some ways, Ebay's a hassle, especially depending on what you're selling, the value, and shipping. But in most ways it's the easiest and most successful method going.

tough call

i've sold quite a few things over $1k...over $2k too on C/L

it's CASH, no scammers, and the buyer sees exactly what they're getting so no buyers remorse.

I WILL NOT SELL ON EBAY EVER AGAIN, AND I DO NOT ACCEPT PP

VIVA LA C/L

the only diff is that it may take 6 mo's to sell on c/l at YOUR price, whereas, it'll sell in a week at THEIR price on the'bay

I've had the best, smoothest transactions selling right here at the good ol' tee-dee-pee-are-eye, both buying and selling.
Ebay's been a mixed bag.
I've only bought from Craigslist, a '64 Fender Deluxe. The amp was great and the price was right. It was cool to try before I buy(ed).

E-bay is very hit-or-miss.
Too many total idiots.....buying and selling.
I make less $$$ selling on CL.....but it is far less hassle IMO.
