Steve Marriott, maybe the biggest influence on my musical direction of all, well, maybe, but a really big one none the less.

I consider myself very lucky to have seen Humble Pie 3 or 4 times before Steve left us (memory is a little fuzzy as orange barrels, purple microdot and Mr. Natural were pretty popular back then). They were really something. He was a true Showman, an Entertainer in the purest sense.

The Measles were a great band. Hanging around Kent State and watching Joe was what we teenage guitar warriors did. He didn't realize it, but we were all watching what he did, and trying to get the sounds he was getting even back then. We'd sneak into the bars around campus just to listen to Joe. Mind you, we were high school kids. Back in the 60's, the Akron-Kent area was a very cool place. Stayed that way until May of 1970. After that, things kind of fell apart. But hangin' with Joe in the 60's was a blast.

You must have hung out at the same places I did. And yeah, they were good, and Joe was awesome way back then.
