Seems like a nice priced 69?

A stripped '68 sold on ebay for $7600 a month ago. I know because a scammer yesterday used those photos and listed it here for $3500. Is the finish original? How does it play? A refret on Fender maple from '69 is a little more involved ($). It's about half the price of a clean one. Do you like poly finish? Someone overtightened the neck bolts, does it have a hump? I think used goods have a 48 hour return policy but double check.

Guitar Center has what I believe is a 69 (Skunk Stripe) - for $4999. I know its got a humbucker route but I was told it was original pickups. Is this a decent price for these nowadays?

I would not trust GC to be 100% factual on this one.
Too much changed to know the origins of all parts.
Bring a vintage Tele expert and take it all apart.
Looks kind of nasty plastic as claimed vintage guitars go, not seeing the attraction.

At my local GC I spotted an old case and asked what was in it.
They got a return of a refin 60s Jag which was quite nice looking, but the buyer returned it anyhow.
Not sure why.

Refin are of course “affordable” but we old timers parted out guitars and bought vintage parts for too many decades to look with confidence on claims this much restoration is confirmed to be all original.

The body shape looks more early 70s to me.

G.c. Are not reliable for any factual information on vintage around here. You will have to take your tool kit and ask to take a look see. G.c. Are all different. In this regard. If it’s legit not partscaster it’s a great price. But I can only reference my territory

Ask yourself why hasn’t it been snapped up . The rich have been doing well in this economy. Stock market at all time high. If you ride the volitility you’re doing great. Cash to burn

So I convinced them to pull it down to let me take a look at her in person - and pulled the trigger today. I got a couple more photos of it with the pickguard removed. Can anyone make out the date stamp on the body? I'm also a little concerned about the bridge being that of a 70s - but I think blonde is original. I've been told the pickups are still original as well - so we'll see. I've got 3 days once she arrives!

Wow.
Bridge: is that the "clawhammer"? Composition of plate metal looks funny, like a MIM I saw this year.
Will a AVRI 3-slug bridge line up with the mount holes? They're not that much money.
A real '69 bridge would have the '68-80 stainless big groove slugs, which are great to have, IMO.

Well I wouln't have bought it, apart from anything else (and there's plently) it doesn't even look playable (for me) with that low E nearly off the board - but it's your money and your call.

Someone posted a ‘67 with the same stamp over the finish in another thread. Condition of the pickups looks better than I’d expect for originals. The bridge looks like a 70s “upgrade” but lots have that.
