Sounds like you want a backup amp. So either keep the Marshall or find a different one. But remember a backup amp doesn't have to tickle your fancy like your main amp.

Hey folks!

I'm having a bit of an amp crisis (probably hyperbole, but bare with me)...
Now I am kicking around the idea of returning / selling the Marshall as it just doesn't bring a smile to my face like the Champ does.

So my question is this; is it worth keeping the Marshall to see if it grows on me? If not, should I pickup another amp as a backup to the Champ? The age of the Champ worries me a bit (I know it's not THAT old, but it's still my first vintage amp)...

I´ve been through a couple of Marshalls last year, and it was the same with me - none of them brought a smile to my face like my sf Champ (or other Fenders...) do.
I´d say, sell the DSL and keep looking for an amp that "suits" you

A couple of years back I thought it might be a worthwhile idea to trade my ´66 Deluxe vs. a Marshall 1974.
They were around the same $ at the time.
Lucky me - the guy brought his Marshall over an we could compare them side-by-side at our rehearsal-space.
The Deluxe ran circles around the 1974 - clean AND overdriven
Glad I kept the Deluxe
