Today at the second hand store had 2 x Shure Unisphere PE 585 high impedance mic's , 7.00 CDN each both came with the 25 foot cables I could not let it go
Both work great with out issues , the PE585 was discontinued in 1981 so these in working condition are cool to have, for the mic locker. and the price is right!

When I was on the road in my soundco days, we would hit up the pawn shops on our days off & buy Uni-dyne mics for next to dirt cheap whenever we found them. We would use them on drums for the 90’s grunge acts doing the college circuit because their drummers were all over the place with their drum strikes, and a $20 pawn shop mic getting trashed is better than a Sennheiser 421 or even a real SM57 getting trashed.

exactly, i used to repair drum mics , 421's. 441's, 58's, 57's, AKG's unbelievable beat up fine mics I think the drummers used to nail in spikes.

well out of curiosity I took the mics apart , the foam lining had disintegrated To be expected so I cut some new foam and lined the balls with it and they no longer resemble baby rattles ( the term for old mics with no foam) tested and stored in the mic locker , all is happy! till my next find

Wow. And the big thing: it came with the cable! I'm a little bit jealous. I have one of those in a box and I've never been able to use it for that reason. I can't find a cable end that fits, and getting a used one costs way more than the mic is worth.

what you need is , 2 conductor braided shield cable as much as you need these came with 25' , a 1/4 plug and a Switchcraft 2501F connector (F=Female) and you can make your own ,
Contact Switchcraft
Switchcraft: 773-792-2700
to see if these are still available

Appreciate this. Unfortunately, that's not the end for the mic I have (must be a slightly different model). The one I have doesn't use the common type, it uses a 2 connector female end, but with the male screw-type surround to attack to the mic body. It's seems to be quite niche. I've found similar ends for the 2 connector part, but never with the female screw surrounding enclosure. I've found the right cable on eBay, but the costs have been prohibitive. Would cost me somewhere between $50 and $75 by the time it got to me, which simply doesn't make sense.
