So the needle has spiraled to the end of the groove and the waiting is over. I wanted to get a feel for if it really had enough clear on it so I worked through 400, 800, 1000, and the some finesse it II on a t shirt between the pickups and it looks like it has enough. I've got 16+ passes with 400 on the last two shots, it's gonna be a while.

After binging all 3 seasons of Ted Lasso while sanding I BELIEVE it is done. Not perfect for sure but happy with the first attempt, some of the imperfections will be covered, others only seem to show at certain angles.
Much more impressive in person with natural light than photos seem to show.
There are at least 3 dog hairs that I know about that are encased in lacquer :), oh well Stella is too wonderful of a dog to be mad. The neck is still not done :/ but it looks like their staff has had a rough time of it so I'm gonna give them a pass and probably use a 68ish mustang neck I just happen to have been gifted, or buy a JRGO.

So my good friends at BYOG are getting things back on track and I got the neck. It looks and feels excellent and I am very glad I sprung for the ebony fret board. This is my first shot at spraying neck amber. The neck has 3 light coats of the Ohio Valley neck amber and about 10 coats of Minwax clear gloss lacquer. I sprayed outside and the wind carried a bunch away so it may be more like 4 :D. It looks a bit orange in the picture but that may be the contrast of the black background.

The plates I got don't fit well enough against the pickguard so I made some templates to clean up the gaps. I was gonna get things rolling as we are for sure in the end game but I think we should pause, and as I have read on this forum (and believe) there is absolutely nothing to be gained by rushing.

Today I learned that dry fitting plates and pickguards without their switches, pots, screws, and connections attached is a recipe for failure. I am also learning that gathering parts from different models is for sure going to require gross and fine tuning. I have a Japanese Fender guard, after market pickup selector plate and tone circuitswitch plate, and a MIM fender control plate. I needed to trim the pickguard to get the switch plate and control plate flush, all was good and I was happy with the fit. Then I mounted and wired the tone circuit switches and found in order to fit it in the cavity it was overlapping the the pick guard by about 3/8". Ok no biggie, trim the guard with the template you already have and since it is indexed over a bit now and does not line up nicely with the edge of the pickguard ease that a bit an recut the bevel. As Timmy Failure says, mistakes were made. I was lucky in that it is only going to cost me a pickguard. While trimming the guard I momentarily forgot which way to feed it into the router bit and in an instant there was a small chip beyond the cut line. The template did not save me. Oh well. I think I will make a full custom template and just get some pearloid stock, enough for multiple attempts. I wonder exactly which pickguard they use on the Marr Jag. If anyone knows please speak up!

Similar for me on my Cabronita refinish; ran out of paint to finish the front after I sanded back some splats, so just having to wait until the new paint arrives. Frustrating, but like you I'd hoped to have it finished by now and just leaving it to harden off before buffing.

Is your switch tip a jet or a dolphin? Guitar looking great.
Note, I had to delete your emoji as I read they can prevent one being able to post a reply. ( smiley emoji)

It is a rocket, the knobs are supposed to be planets. I was inspired by the incredible work of @John Backlund.
I have gcode and stls that I can post if anyone is interested, also blender files.
