I started a project to assemble a Telecaster from parts. The body is seafoam green and the neck has a rosewood fretboard. I’m trying to decide whether I want a single-ply white/eggshell, 3-ply parchment, or mint green pickguard. It’s going to be modeled after 60s telecaster, so my initial thought is a 3-ply parchment pickguard with no screw holes for the neck pick up.

130177233363275680.jpg The 3-ply would be more authentic to time period, but the single ply would look sweet also. On the pic is a 1962 Seafoam Green that had a slightly green tint, naturally aged pickguard.
Still my favorite Tele color, and it changes tone and tint , sometimes looks blue, depending on its mood.

Mint green is the obvious best choice!

Wow, seriously? I have a mint green Nashville style; but honestly, mint green gets a bad rap a lot of times. I’ll see if I can add that to the poll.

Mint green is my favorite on all colors, lol. It even looks great on colors you wouldn't expect, like CAR, LPB, and BM
athregbrq7qch0u3d2pa_2000x.jpg 8350876_orig.jpg My LPB Bullet Tele came with one, but my Surf Green didn't, which annoyed me, lol

To me it just exudes that 60s vibe

Agreed, I had a James Burton Standard Tele in CAR. Came stock with a single-ply white guard. I put a mint green guard on it and it looked great.

Mint green can look right against many colours. Always worth a try, but there's mint green, 'mint green', and 'the victim died two days ago' green variants.
Parchment and aged white are nice. I find the plain white a little too harsh and glaring.
A tortoise shell with a lot of light red and brown can look lovely or ghastly too.

Now tort I think looks hideous on a green or blue body. I really only like it on black, white, and maybe sometimes burst.

Not quite sea foam, but still a mint green guard.

I put a Fender 3 ply white on mine, which I had spare. I'll try and get a pic up later. It did have a stock mint green, but I just didn't like the mix of the 2 greens, and I thought it made the whole thing look cheap. But, then others may argue that the white makes it look cheap too.

Tort or single ply black. The tort works better than with surf green imho.

the problem with the mint green is that it starts at a nice aged green and over time darkens to "ludicrous green."

i would go for the parchment 3 ply, classic. i think the single ply looks nice too, but seing a single ply on a custom color is kind of weird to me.

Now, what I don’t like about that one is the white knobs and pickup covers. I had an orange sparkle Strat with a mint green guard but it had aged white covers and knobs. They looked leaps and bounds better than the white covers and knobs, IMHO.

I went with faded/yellowed white pearloid on this build. Parchment would have been good too but it wanted something to fancy up the pre-relic'ed GFS closeout body.
