SD Hot Rails. Screws that came with it just slide through the holes. Am I doing something wrong?

Am I missing something? I bought a brand new SD Hot Rails neck and the screws that came with it just slide through.

Are they wood screws for direct mount to the body or machine screws for mounting to the pickguard? If you can post a pic, some one here will get you sorted out quickly I bet.

they are wood screws. There is a metal ring inside the holes but there aren't any threads that i can see inside.

OK, so will will need some rubber tubing or a spring on each screw. Then screw directly into the body. Just be careful not to screw through the back of your guitar! You can cut the rubber tubing to get you the height from the strings you want. Did the pickup come with some rubber tube, or maybe rubber spacers?

This was my first pick up swap that I did on my own. And maybe like my 3rd time soldering. It's not bad. Just a bit tedious.

I go exclusively pickguard mounted neck, from fear of screwing through my Tele! But the direct mount to the body is the classic look many tele guys want.
This is an MIM tele that came direct body mount so there are holes already there so I think it should work.

Thanks again!
