BTW Schem for your Fisher 500 Mono

You have a 340-0-340 tap (perfect for a pair of EL34 or 6L6)
And a 165-0-165 tap (not as useful, but possibilities)

    You've got 6v and 5V filament taps.

    Don't waste that on a 5-15W build.

Yeah, I figured. Still wouldn't mind making the overall design and function fairly simple though, even if high powered.

Of course, that brings up the thought of switchable output wattage. Judging from just about everything I'm asking so far, my guess is that is something which is much easier to say or imagine than it is to build.

It's easy enough to run the power tubes in in triode or pentode mode (on a toggle switch). That will change the wattage. But also the tone.

And we can certainly design cathode biased El34, push-pull amp that's about 25-30 watts. Put a couple volume pots in the right place, and you can dial it in at lower volumes. I know this, because it's the topology of my favorite gigging amp.

See the SUper 36 on the schems below. Insert your PT and OT into that circuit, add a 5U4 rectifier and Voila, you have a damned responsive amp that will hang with an HRD. (BTW,all 14 of the amps on that PDF can be made on a universal PCB, along with about 20 other variants).

I'm good with what you're talking about here! This sounds like plenty of things I'm very interested in knowing more about.
